The Society for Human Performance in Extreme Environments (HPEE) is holding its Fourth Annual Meeting October 15 & 16, 2006 at the Hilton San Francisco Hotel in San Francisco, CA. The meeting preceds the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society's 50th Annual Meeting at the same location.The annual meeting brings together scientists, researchers, operational personnel, and other professionals with interest and expertise in the area of psychology and human performance in complex and high-stress environments. The Society seeks to lower the boundaries between scientific and applied disciplines, encourage empirical collaboration and discovery, and provide a forum for a diverse collection of professionals from spaceflight, military operations, underwater and high-altitude activities, extreme sports, and other environments in which humankind is not naturally suited to endure.The Call for Papers can be downloaded by selecting the links above for your preferred file type. We invite you to consider submitting proposals for presentations, posters, or panel discussions, or simply attend the meeting and learn more about HPEE. We are also offering a special reduced registration rate for current members of the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society (HFES).Registration:You will soon be able to register on-line using a credit card, or download a registration form for payments by check, via the HPEE website. Registration on-site is by check or money order only. As noted, members of HFES can attend the meeting at a reduced rate. Check back soon for online registration information. Student Volunteer Opportunity: Students can receive free registration at the meeting by volunteering to help with registering attendees, maintaining refreshments, and other tasks for a 3-4 hour commitment.
